Winter is coming โ›„

First Winter We are very afraid of winter, we have heard a lot of things, some good and some not so good. We think we are not prepared for -20C temperatures (just kidding, we should be). We already bought our jackets, boots, gloves, and hats, but nothing prepares you for those temperatures. At the beginning of winter everything is going to be very nice, the first snowfalls, new experiences, Christmas, and New Year (we hope all winter will be like that ๐Ÿคž, being very positive).  Just to tell you that at work we have made a bet on what day we think is going to be the first snow day (Paula said November 15 and Laura said November 19, Juanita didn't want to participate) we are looking forward that one of us will win this bet ๐Ÿค‘.  We are still waiting for the temperatures to drop, and start this Winter season. We will keep you informed.

Failed furniture attempt ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Not everything is true ๐Ÿ˜“ We always hear that in Canada, many people take out their furniture and give it away for free. Sometimes the things they offer are in good condition, but let's be honest, most people don't take care of their things, at least here in Canada. For example, in Latin America, we are very careful with the things we have, but here, people don't care so much. We saw in a group that a guy was giving away his couch for free; in the pictures, it looked great, but when we got to his house, everything smelled really bad (cat pee), and the couch was totally different from the picture. We paid a man to transport the sofa to our house, but in the end we decided to leave the sofa outside and lost the money for the transport. In the end, we learned that you have to go see things first, and then if you like them, you organize yourself and pay for the transportation. Every day, we learn something new.

Be happy, get a tattoo ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We really wanted to do something that represented our Friendship and of course Montreal-Canada.  Not long ago we were thinking of a tattoo! However, in our research for finding a place to do it, the majority were really expensive ๐Ÿ’ฐ. In our college, Paula and Juanita study with a guy who got two tattoos in a place and it looked really good and was not so expensive. In less than a week we scheduled the appointment and here we are, with new tattoos ๐Ÿ’–!  Juanita got the phrase "Brave" because not everyone can start from scratch in a new country without knowing anyone, and Paula and Laura got the phrase "Merci" because were are really thankful for all the things that Canada has given us (new friends, new experiences, and a new life).

Dog sitters ๐Ÿถ

Your trusted dog sitters This weekend we have the opportunity to take care of Luffy, a Boston Terrier of 3 years. A friend from College was going to travel and didn't have anyone to take care of Luffy, so we offered our apartment to receive Luffy for two days. In the beginning, our landlord said that we couldn't have dogs in the apartment, and we were sad ๐Ÿ˜”, but in the end, he said yes! Luffy was really calm and sweet. We cuddled and slept with him, and went for long walks.  In the future, we would love to take care of a lot of dogs, cats, or any animal. We love animals ๐Ÿ’— they make us really happy.

Horror Festival ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿงก

Monsters and Roller Coasters  The night didn't start as we had planned because we had a little problem with the tickets, but in the end, we were able to fix the problem and focused on having a good time! We have to admit it wasn't as scary as we thought it would be (we couldn't get into the haunted houses ๐Ÿ™ because of the ticket problem and also because it was full! I think half of Montreal was in LaRonde that night), but at least it was a lot of fun ๐Ÿ˜œ we rode three rides ๐ŸŽข and had a good time with our friends. next year hopefully it will be more fun!!!!!

Our first 6 months in Canada ๐Ÿโ„

New friends, new experiences...ADAPTATION  We have to admit that the first six months in any place are the hardest. In the first month, you question if the decision you made was the right one, in the second month you keep questioning things but not as often as in the first month, in the third month everything starts to sort itself out and take shape, the fourth month you start to enjoy everything and go out a little more with the new friends you made the first months, and finally on the fifth and sixth month you get used to your new rhythm and lifestyle and you start to understand that everything that you did before was to get where you are now. ๐Ÿ‘ญ๐Ÿ‘Œ Of course, none of this will be easy without a support group that is going through the same thing and understands each other.๐Ÿ’–

Language barrier

NEW COUNTRY, NEW LANGUAGE โœŽ If you thought English was hard to learn, French is not even close ๐Ÿ˜ฃ. To begin with, only 60% of what is written is pronounced and the letters e and o have 4 or 5 different pronunciations.  It is true that in Canada (Quebec) the government pays you to learn French, however, finding a place in these courses is really difficult because each course starts every three months and fitting in with the school schedules is really difficult because most of the time the schedule is weekday mornings and at that time you are either studying or working ๐Ÿ˜”. And yes, there are evening and weekend schedules but the positions are very limited. So to sum it up for you, if you manage to find a spot in a government French class, you are very lucky.  In Montreal, it is super necessary to know French!! Basically, if you want to succeed in Montreal you must be billigual.
